Walls
the cold harsh glances from others are cruel
it's as if they use them as a tool
to keep distance between themselves and me
the wall that's built is a fortress to see
the bricks keep piling higher
bigger and stronger each time i see a glower
the hopelessness of ever reaching the top sours
keeping me at the bottom of my ever growing tower
i have my hammer of hope in my strongest arm
chipping and pounding that wall of internal harm
my fight looks long and hard to do
keeping the distance down by looking cool
up front upon the wall i look and see the damage
i can see the hurt and anguish of their lineage
not knowing the pain and scars they inflict
each time they hurt, it's another brick
a brick that builds a wall of turbulence and pain
each of us knowing that it is up to us to make the change
breaking each and every brick that is installed
keeping the area clean and fulfilled
with a grin and a smile i keep my hopes alive
fighting off the harshness that spoils my drive
it's not easy, and i don't always win
but i know that as long as i try, i'll never give in
