The Band
Standing alone and tall
I feel my back against the wall
I look and look but they are nowhere to be found
I know they are here, I know they're around
I see the fiery hair of the singer
I see her point her lengthy finger
Is it at me? I ask myself
No, it has to be someone else
She would never single me out
I look too plain and too shy about
I follow the crowd as they look ahead
I see clearly now the guitarists' heads
Far in the distance I see what is in the back
It is the drummer all dressed in black
With his goatee and hair flying back and forth
I stare at the man beating with such force
Are my eyes deceiving me?
Is she coming to get me?
Her hand touches mine and my legs turn to mush
The whole group around me begins to hush
I stand in awe of her presence as she grabs my hand
She is taking me up to see the band
Her deep Scottish lilt sends my head swooning
I sometimes can't understand a word she is saying
I sing with her during my favorite song
As if she knew what it was all along
