Empathy
The tree stands so gallant and stoic
It almost looks heroic
Firm and strong it looms alone
For never once is there a clone
I take a closer look inside
It is filled with rot and grime
Too much neglect and not enough love
Has caused this mastadon to be rough
Though stoic and strong it may be
It will never be healed thoroughly
Rotted and corroded for none to see
I feel nothing but empathy for the poor thing
